Totenlag
Totenlag is one of eight Lags that have a yearly grand meeting (Stevne). Traditionally it is called the 7+ Lag Stevne. All together, there are more than 30 Lags representing the people who come from many areas in Norway.
7+ Lag Stevne is a three day annual event with other people who came from or are descended from people who came from the Toten area.
The Stevne includes fellowship, an opportunity to use the Lag's genealogy materials, programs and entertainment with a Norwegian flair, and lots of time to make new friends. As an added bonus you may learn about cousins both in Norway and elsewhere and get valuable tips for visiting Norway from people who have been there.
2025 - the 7+ Lag Stevne will be hosted by Landingslag on July 9 -12, 2025 in Austin, MN at the DoubleTree Inn.
The theme for the stevne is “Norwegian crossings 1825 to 2025” which signifies the 200th anniversary of the sailing of the Sloop Restaurasjonen with the first organized group of Norwegian immigrants that came to America.
On July 4, 1825, 52 Norwegians set sail from Stavanger in Norway on the sloop Restauration. They arrived in New York on October 9.
This marked the beginning of organized immigration from Norway to North America. 900,000 Norwegians would follow. In 2025 Norwegians and Norwegian-Americans are celebrating the Bicentennial of Norwegian Immigration. It had a profound effect on the history of Norway and an impact on the development of America as well.
Further information on the Stevne for 2025 can be found in this document - updates will be made soon to the www.7lagstevne.com website.
